I waited five years to get married. I didn't think two years was very long at all! But I see what you are saying. People thought we waited a ridiculously amount of time to marry but now that we've been married 5 years we're still "newlyweds" somehow (even though we've been together 10 years).
The usual case (in shidduchim) is to have a relationship that will lead to marriage. So when you are dating for two years, the reaction is "Yo! When are you going to propose to her already?!?!?!" But when you are married, your job in life is accomplished and two years in the big picture is nothing.

ReplyDeleteBecause being shomer means you can't touch for two years, and you still only get half the time when you're married. :P
